Beach Bums

This was quite possibly one of the most gorgeous weekends we've experienced in our time as Chicagoans. It was beautiful and breezy out which, of course, means picnic.

We headed over to the large grassy area at Lawrence and Lake Shore to feast on yummy sandwiches from Beans & Bagels, homemade pasta salad, cold beer, and pretzle chips. A simple feast that was quite satisfying. We were joined by Micah, Elizabeth (friend of Micah), and Anna (friend of Elizabeth).

We had a very interesting conversation that hit on everything from colonial New England, to contemporary Quakers, the 2008 election and poetry. Awesome!

We had another unexpected friend join us as well: Ferrati. He and his family were picnicking nearby and he became quite enamored with Violet. Almost the entire time we were there, he was following her around with love offerings of sticks and ice cubes...very sweet.

Post-picnic we packed up the goods and then walked over to the dog beach for some quality frolicking. Violet was, of course, in her element. She is at her most graceful when running like a madwoman across the sand.
