America the beautiful

Today, I listened to the lecture Heath plans to give this fall concerning whether or not America is a "Christian nation." Despite the extremely layered, complex, and at times unsatisfying nature of the answers posed, it seemed a fitting way to wrap up this 4th of July weekend.

On the 4th itself, we feasted at a lovely BBQ hosted by TK and Sarah, featuring extremely tasty pulled pork and a variety of delicious fixin's. Dessert, as is fitting, included apple pie and patriotic cupcakes—can't beat that! It was great to meet some new people and enjoy the company of friends.






On a side note: Everyone was a fan of Miss Violet who, I must say, was in rare form all afternoon. Whether she was in bearskin rug mode, eating weeds, or bounding across the backyard, she was very adorable.
